Now, I’m going to give you some instructions, which will help us deepen your trance. In a moment, but not yet, I’m going to ask you to open your eyes. When I say Awake, I want you to open your eyes. You will be fully awake, alert, aware, and completely out of trance. But when I say Sleep, you will fall irresistibly and easily deep down into trance, closing your heavy eyes, even deeper than where you were before. It will be as if you were slung in a massive rubber band, the tension of coming awake sending you deeper down each time into a comfortable, relaxed place. Remember, when I say Awake, you will return completely out of trance, aware and lucid. And when I say sleep, you will go deep back down into trance, even deeper than before. If you are ready, give me a slow nod if you understand. (Wait for a nod.)
So - with this one weird trick, pulling someone in and out of trance will usually send them deeper each time, even without the suggestions to do so. The only neat note here is the second repetition. It’s perfectly okay to repeat your instructions to ensure they’re glued deeply in their mind.
Good. Now, Awake. (Give them a maximum of three seconds of awareness before continuing.) And Sleep… feeling that rubber band snap for the first time, bringing you even deeper into trance, further than where you started. Even more relaxed, even more open, even less able to move. (Give them a moment to settle in there.)
When you have them up out of trance, you don’t want to give them too long before sending them back down.
And in a moment… Awake. Good. And - Sleep… Going even deeper down, feeling your body drag you back deep into trance, increasing your depth even more, your relaxation beginning to double, your depth of trance even stronger, noticing how much easier it was to go down this far than the first time… And now… Awake.
(Give it a moment.) Sleep. Just like that, feeling yourself be drawn all the way back down, the rubber band pulling you even further than before, letting go of any inhibitions you have of going further into trance, letting yourself sink into that deep comfort and relaxation. And again… Awake.
(Give it a moment.) Sleep. You’re doing so well, going so deep, feeling yourself go even further into trance… Twice as comfortable as before, twice as quickly and easily as your depth continues, this irresistible feeling of relaxation pulling you right back in again. Imagine what it would feel like to go twice as deep as this, and give yourself a moment to relax and enjoy this space. (Give it a moment.) And one more time… Awake.
Here, I’m priming the subject to try to imagine themselves going twice as deep as before. Sooo… when we send them back down in just a moment, the suggestion of going twice as deep goes a bit more smoothly.
(Give it a moment.) And - Sleep - going down going deeper going so… so… so.. Heavily and quickly into trance, feeling that intoxicating feeling of simplicity and calm doubling… Noticing how your body feels even heavier than before, your breathing naturally even more relaxed… And as you did before, imagine what it would be like to go twice as deep as you are right now… enjoying this for just a moment… And, one last time, ready to go back down so far, Awake.
(Give it a moment.) Sleep - going deep deep down without feeling any resistance, that rubber band pulling you even deeper down, not stopping, pulling you so far down into trance it’s beyond your imagination, sinking you deep into a comfortable pool of calm, relaxing, empty trance. You’re doing so good…
